On June 18-19th the 1st Annual International Society of Sports Nutrition was held in Lake Las Vegas, Nevada. People gathered from all over to hear the fabulous and informative presentations by Lonnie Lowery, PhD, John Berardi, PhD, Jeff Stout, PhD, Doug Kalman, MS RD, Tim Ziegenfuss, PhD, John Ivy, PhD, Barry Sears, PhD, amongst many others.

Topics ranged from the role of fat in the athlete's diet to nutrition and body composition, from food and mood to a Q&A with IFBB Pro Bodybuilder Craig Titus and his IFBB Fitness Pro wife, the awesome Kelly Ryan. The Q&A proved to be an interesting addition to an academic conference since seeing sometimes can be believing. Titus and Ryan, though not academically trained in sports nutrition, had valid and useful information to share about the use of many supplements which have aided them in their rise to pro status. They were also kind enough to stick around for as long as we kept asking questions. Thanks!

From where I was perched over at the JavaFit booth, it was tough to see and hear everything that was going on but since Cassandra and myself were keeping the thermo coffee brewing, you bet most everyone in attendance made it by our booth to try this new, turbo brew put out by yours truly, Joey Antonio. For more information about this yummy java, please visit JavaFit.

The 1st Annual Conference was a great success. I invite you to sign up now for the ISSN free newsletter (you might be reading something by me in there :) and stay on top of all the great events that they will be a part of.

The 2nd Annual ISSN Conference is going to held next June in New Orleans, Lousiana! Other events in 2004/early 2005 include:

September 18, 2004 -- Insitute of Human Performance and ISSN

October 8, 2004 (my birthday) -- GNC Show of Strength and ISSN

December 2004 -- Athletes' Performance and ISSN

March 2005 -- ACSM and ISSN, NYC

June 2005 -- 2nd Annual ISSN Conference
